By the end of the year or maybe January, i'll want to gratify myself with spending. I've been torn, though, between a new pc--with the loss of the old one--and a dslr.
I guess a new pc would be more practical. I've spent some time looking up specs and prices. I went through history lessons to learn the advantage trend. I'm set on an ati radeon gpu but it's classic intel vs amd. With a “unit 03” theme in mind, i'd either go for an x3 or a 3 ghz core 2. It took quite some time but it seems that intel core wins. There goes the ferrari mark.
I could choose a pentium dual core but i'd need a core 2 for it to be worth the purchase. A quad core is out of the question.
I'm actually biased on the phenom given i'm already set to get a radeon. Platforming has its advantages. I was thinking of a spider platform minus the 4th core with an x3. Only, there’re too little good reviews on the phenom x3 or even the x4 and the cpu is a great factor.
If i were to buy a pc then, then i'd go for an intel-ati combo. It's what we have now on the XXXG-01D, both companies have the current performance crowns, it's more democratic since it isn’t platform based, and i like the red and blue color combo.
If a replacement for the TestType would be needed, and not essentially a new one for the sake of having a new one, it'd be either a budget x3 amd platform desktop or an intel laptop. And i'd sell the idea to my father instead. Haha. Oh, maybe a Pentium dual-core based budget pc as a 01 replacement. But as i said, i'd rather have my father buy that.
So it seems i've come to a conclusion: i'll be saving up for a dslr. Yes, a new pc is more practical but that's it exactly. I'll leave practicallity to my parents. And besides, a new pc would be phased out too soon and i'd want a new one. There goes practicality. The XXXG-01D will do for the next 2 yrs as the TestType did for some time. Maybe i'll get an hd3650 for the upcoming titles and finally find the ddr2-533 cards I’ve been looking for.
Besides, I’ve given this pc until the release of windows 7. maybe the dlsr choice is just me. It isn’t the obvious practical choice but it’s a bit more timeless.
Oh, and a new pc would mean an lcd monitor and I wouldn’t want to go against my biases against it. Haha.
* I started this entry typing on my cellphone to drain the battery. The battery died and so did the paused ppg game. Apparently, what I’ve believed for so long is true—that I’m meant to use the keyboard.
